Today, there are different variations of the game. These variations of baccarat came about as the game made its way around the world. The aim of the game, irrespective of the variation, is to get a hand total as close to 9 as possible. Chemin de Fer

Chemin de Fer is a French word meaning “railroad” or “railway”. It is also the name given to the first baccarat game introduced to France. In this variant, the player and dealer can make decisions. This variation uses six decks of cards, and the croupier is responsible for shuffling the cards before every round. The role of the banker is taken on by the player; they will also be responsible for dealing out the cards.

In this variation, the cards are handed out face down. The distribution of a third card is dependent on the player. Players will place their bets first.

Punto Banco

Punto Baccarat an exciting baccarat variation formed in Cuba. In this variant, the cards dealt by the player dictates the next move and both the player and dealer can make decisions. This variant uses six or eight decks of cards and players compete against each other.

Players are known as Punto, and the banker is called Banco. Cards are shuffled and handed out by the croupier. In this game, a third card is automatically dealt, and the croupier will announce the winner at the end of the round.

Baccarat Banque

Baccarat Banque has a unique online gaming style in comparison to the other two variants. Before a round starts, players can choose if they want to be the banker. If a player chooses to take on the role of the dealer, they will take on this role for the entire game. Betting options are much greater in this variant compared to the others.
